The dealers didn't much have a choice in selling a RS or not. That's AoA's decision

Default Understood, I'm making a different point though

Audi and their dealers should have a warranty obligation to their customers that's not discretionary or geographical.

What if the sunroof gets stucks or a door handle falls off? "Sorry, we don't service RS models?"

It isn't that hard. I installed my Stasis MS system with the car on jackstands.

Default I don't see them turning down the car for generic warranty stuff. Just stuff specific to

those models.

Just playing devils advocate. How many other car companies refuse warranty work for certain models?

Default So, they just don't want to pony up for a special tool to service RS4 suspension

unacceptable, IMO.

Default The question is whether that dealer originated the car, or whether they were a middle man.

Some dealers obtain a car via a trade, and then trade it away again. AoA can't control that.

Not saying that is what happened, just an observation based on prior experience.

Default I'm not sure all Porsche dealers can work on every aspect of a CGT. Mercedes SLR is likely

the same. How about the Nissan GT-R?

In some regions it's unlikely they can recoup the costs of training and tools via sales, which is why they can opt out. Especially on limited production cars where allocation and potential sales might not be in sufficient quantity to make financial sense.

Now if they are an opt-in dealer, then it's only fair that they service the car. I can understand their reluctance, given they didn't sell the car, but ultimately they do get paid to do the work.

Default Bottomline is the car company and dealers have to back up warranty

maybe the Germans like to pull this crap. Do you think Chevy dealers are turning away ZR1 owners?

As for the Nissan GT-R, I can't imagine them telling someone the only dealer authorized to work on it is 3 states away...or we'll have to ship that to Japan to have the transmission replaced.

Think about it.
