7-eleven gas any good?
#11
I have never noticed the difference either in this or my b5 s4
I did have a couple of episodes of misfirings over the life of the s4 (maybe 2-3) that I thought might be attributable to bad gas but I blamed it on the aftermarket chip more than anything else. 150k miles over the life of the S4 and now RS4
I suppose in theory there is a difference and I personally would drive across the street from the 7-11 to the Shell if given the choice - but if I were you I wouldnt worry too much about it.
On the other hand if you see a tanker parked at the gas station avoid it at all costs. The tanker unloading stirs up all the gunk at the bottom of the tank and if there is any water in the storage tanks it mixes it into the gas. Shell gas could then be way worse than the 7-11 across the street if the Shell has a tanker unloading while you are pumping it into your tank.
my 2 cents...

the dealer has a card...
they recommend Top Tier fuels...
they are listed on the card
it was given to me when I bought the car...
one side talks gas, the other motor oil...
TOP TIER Detergent Gasoline is the premier standard for gasoline performance. Six of the world's top automakers, BMW, General Motors, Honda, Toyota, Volkswagen and Audi recognize that the current EPA minimum detergent requirements do not go far enough to ensure optimal engine performance.

http://www.toptiergas.com/index.html</a

If I were a respected advertising executive
(and I am) - I would say that it is probably just good marketing. Dont go to 7-eleven for gas or you will trash your car - come to Shell.
Course - I still prefer the big names and personally dont go to 7-eleven if I have the choice - there probably is a difference - all I am saying is you probably couldnt affect your car using 7-eleven gas if tried really really hard.
Is anyone here a Chief Scientist for an oil company?
