Default Tires

Anyone have experience with Brigestone RE050A in 18" XL rated.

Other option is the infamous Michelin PS2's- too obvious of a choice?

Any other tires to consider or that you guys recommend?

Feedback appreciated!

Default I use Goodyear Eagle F1 AS, used them on three different cars, and have been very happy!

Its a great high performance tire that you can use year round. Not too bad on the wallet too.

Default Like the PS2's on my tt but I have Eagle F1 GSD3's on the RS6 and think their the best.

The Goodyears are better than the PS2's in the wet, and about the same in the dry.

Default Thats what I have on now

It was hard swithing from the PS2's, which was a really great tire, but the Bridgestones have been just as great. I'm thinking Michelin isn't making the PS2's for our care anymore, because tire rack and the dealer couldn't get ahold of any.
I have 6 track days on them so far (2 of which were at daytona) and they have held up well so far. Great grip as compared to the PS2's. One of my instructors commented that the tires save me a couple of times from losing it.
Don't notice alot of tire noise (maybe because I'm spooling up the turbos so often!!). Good ride quality. I'm happy with them with about 2,500 miles on them so far.
Don't go with PS1...ran though 2 sets in less than 6k miles

Default Don't forget AOA's recommendation for a "heavy load" designation

At 4200 lbs, and with 62% of the weight over the front axle line, the RS 6 can exert very heavy loads on tires during aggressive or high speed cornering. That's why AOA recommended a "heavy load" or "extra load" designation (forgot exact wording) when the RS 6 first came out. I don't think they ever rescinded that recommendation.

Some guys do without, and I suppose for normal street driving it's not critical. But years ago, maybe around 2004, rs6.com had a picture of a shredded tire & wasted wheel that resulted from high speed driving on tires without the designation.
