Thoughts on midsize SUV?
Hoped for some input from the folks here.
We are going to get a midsize SUV soon. Here are some of the requirements:
1) SAFE - SAFE - SAFE
2) AWD/4X4
3) We will be putting 20K+ miles a year and I think we will buy not lease.
4) Decent drive - I know most of these will be pretty isolated on the road. The last four years have been in a X5 4.4i sport, Magnum SRT8 and Sequoia. Three very different rides.
4) Need to tow and launch a jetboat at 2500lbs - so I would prefer towing capacity around 5K lbs.
We wanted to go with Q7, X5 or MDX BUT it makes more sense to spend in the $30-$40k range for us.
So what do you folks have, pros & cons?
What would you buy, pros & cons?
TIA

We have enjoyed our GMC Denali-
Plenty of horsepower, tows ski boat routinely and no major issues over 4 years. It has a very solid feel to the road and sits high enough to launch the boat off shallow ramps. The suspension adjusts dependent upon load and has worked very well for us.

we love our GL450.... and they're depreciating swiftly so they could fit in the range
it handles better then most and with it's 3rd row handles all situations.
nice interior ( not an Audi... but) and great revving motor...

Volvo XC90. Two friends have them and love them. Right in that price range especially if you go
slightly used. Both have two kids and works great for them after 3 plus years of ownership. I had an X5 and loved it but it had electronic gremlins, which still would not stop me from buying another one but again i bought mine used and got it cheaper but Certified Used so had full warranty extended two more years for a one year old truck.

I love mine too...when i have it : ) which i do now so i am happy again.
although f'me if i have any clue what the hell the suspension is supposed to feel like anymore when the DRC is replaced. Hard as a rock at the moment.

Soooo funny...I was just thinking the same thing coming back
from a drive this morning and scalping a few car bullies. The rebuilding efforts have really paid off, and the car is performing better than evaaaarrrrr.
