Default First snow this morning. PS2 Tire question.

My Pilot Sport Cups give up the ghost below 50 degrees. At what average temperature should I consider it unwise to leave my PS2s on the car? I have a set of Michelin Alpin PA2s that are waiting to go on the car, but it still seems a bit early.
Daily highs are now in the low to mid forties here in wonderful middle Minnesota.

Default My PS2s are still working good enough...I wait until the first threat of snow or night temps in the

low thirties constantly...in other words get them off your car now...still warm enough here in Chicago that I haven't switched yet but will after roadtrip south for thanksgiving. They DO NOT WORK AT ALL on the snow or icy roads. Hockey pucks.

Default Hey Joe!! change tires for safety..early will be too late after you crash hitting frost/ice...

I shipped my snows here when i moved back home to use after my ps2's run out...might as well use them as they weren't cheap...

have a good one from sunny tradewind blowing Hawaii....BTW its in the eighties here today....

aloha!

Default Pilot Sport Cups vs Pilot Sport 2s

PSCs can be a handful to drive on when temps get below 50 degrees. PS2s seem fine above freezing, but I'm not sure if I have false confidence here.

Default I am waiting for temps to remain below 40 degrees, then I'll swap them out...

I have Michelin PS2 summer on the car right now, but they are useless in snow, so if the forecast says snow is coming, I'm changing over.

Default agreed! when i first bought my beast it had the stock tires on, down came the snow that week...

it was the most **** scary commute i've ever had...driving from Hoboken NJ to Greenwich CT in morning traffic was not fun..be safe and keep you baby scuff free (or worse...)

peace!

Default Thanks for all the input, folks. Alpins going on this week.

Remember the winter mantra:

AWD does not negate the laws of physics.

Your tire contact patches are all that is keeping you on the road.

With AWD you can exploit those tire patches a little bit more. Hee, Hee.
