Default anybody have a starter go out? Looks like mine just did...

awaiting estimate though I think the part is around $350.....

Default Most of the time, its the solenoid that goes bad

...which is like a ~$50 part

Default they have to take the engine out to fix it!!! it looks like my days as

a RS6 owner is over...

Default that can't be true can it? Ive never heard that you have to pull the engine

on any car to replace the starter... but I guess this is RS6 so anything is possible.

Default That is insane and another example of "WTF were they thinking??"

The extended warranty Bruce sold me covers this part as I mad rushed to the file to check. However; I think I'll add it to the list of things to do on the next certain engine pull to come for some sort of maintenance item.

I hate to hear the news for you and what it means for all of us.

Default yep...in the middle of negotiating for

an A4 Avant.....I'm going to call it my recession car.....drive for a year or two and then give to my son......it's a sad day

Default Most of us will eventually reach the same point :(...the car is just

not worth the excessive maintenance costs. I always expected higher costs due to the performance nature of the vehicle. However; some of the designs of this car result in needless operational costs.

While it is great when it operates, a lot of us will reach a "sad day" prematurely due to these issues.

My favorate crazy design is the location of the oil filter. The most frequent service item.
