Wreckreation Nation with Dave Mordal - RS4 at Bonneville Episode

I finally have an air date for the Discovery Channel show that was filmed last September at the World of Speed on the Bonneville Salt Flats. It will air Tuesday Feb 17 at 10pm EST/PST. Check your local listing...
I coached the host of the show, Dave Mordal as he used my RS4 in an attempt at the 130 MPH Club, which is a 1 mile long course from a standing start. To gain entry into the 130 MPH Club the driver has to make two passes in the same day reaching over 130 MPH.

Wreckreation Nation with Dave Mordal - RS4 at Bonneville Episode

no. ... 130 club requires, ...
130 club requires current helmet, speed rated tires, fire extinguisher mounted in cockpit, and simpler sundry technicals
(see link below)
150 club, on the 2 mile course requires fire suit, min. 5 point harness, rollcage, etc.

Re: Hmmm, sounds good, ...
you won't get to 150mph on the one mile course in the M3.
if you wanna go 150, they want you in the next category up,
150mph club, on the two mile course, with the more rigorous safety requirements,
... roll cage, harness, etc. (& fatter entry fee)
the rules are designed to reinforce that.
if you go over 140mph on the one mile 130mph course, you are disqualified for that event, no more runs, and no refund.
i could have gone about 140, or just over, but didn't want to get booted out,
so i got up to an indicated speed midway between 130 and 140, and hit the cruise control button.
i went through the speed trap on cruise control for all my runs.
john can chime in here, but my belief is that even with mega-power, getting it to the ground effectively with only two wheels hooked up to the motor, and getting to 150mph on the one mile course doesn't sound feasible.
a new roush mustang just made the club, but several big motor bmw's failed. lots of big powered rear wheel drive cars failed.
it's a standing start, with nearly half the grip of tarmac, and only one mile to get to measured speed.
130mph is harder than it sounds.
