Thanks for the input. We've hit up Parkcity, Alta and Deer Valley in the past. Thought we'd try some of these other resorts. BTW, we'll be staying in Big Cottonwood Cyn.
a. Snowbird
b. Brighton
c. The Canyons
d. Solitude
e. Powder Mtn.

Snowbird = Most technical terrain. Most crowded. Mid-high price. Really good snow.
Brighton = Snowboarders mountain (sno bro dude!) so lots of terrain to hit off of. Cheap. Great snow. Small compared to the rest.
Solitude = Cheap and not crowded. Great snow. Good variety of terrain from blue groomers to in bounds hike to zones.
The Canyons = Spread out horizontally, not vertically, so you can't do the full vertical in one run, but spreads out the crowd better. High price, but not as bad as Deer Valley or PCMR. Less crowded than PCMR. Better variety in terrain than PCMR (I personally find PCMR downright boring but I don't do park/pipe), especially with regards to tree runs.
Snowbasin (you didn't list this one) = Low-mid price, not crowded. AWESOME lodges (think country club and kick it up a notch). Alpine style terrain, so wide open bowls not much trees. Bad on flat light days.
Powder Mtn = Cheap, far away from where you are staying. But will probably have the most freshies days after a powder dump.
Brian Head = no clue.
Nightlife = Basically none in Big or Little Cottonwood Canyons. Will need to either head to downtown SLC or Park City to find any. And yes, there is nightlife, moreso in PC.

personally I didn't like Brighton all that much
now granted it was a very bad snow day when I went there. But I just don't like the scene there (sno-bro dude!). I know Hans loves it, but thats cuz he has the mad hook up there.
I like The Canyons because the terrain is very varied, and spread out so I can avoid the crowds. Also one of the less popular resorts so less crowded that way.

I've only skied Powder Mountain...
of course, I can count on one hand how many times I've skied in my entire life, so I may not be the best person to give opinions.
My everlasting memory of Powder Mountain: Learning to snowboard there on 2-week old hard pack, sitting down at the edge of a slope to strap on the board, and watch as it gets away from me and goes down the entire f**kin' run.
