Default Just read in my popular science mag that CO ranked the best for least amount of obesity.

We were the only state to make it into the 15-19% obes category. Most of the rockies and east coast states were in the 20-24%. OR, WA, and most of the midwest was in the 25-29% category. MS, AL, and TN were in the whopping 30%+...... gross. Who knows where they got their info from, but just re-affirms why I love this place so much.

Default I think that has pretty much been the case for the last 10-15 years.

I remember hearing this when I moved to Colorado in 1997 and someone mentioned the same thing a few threads down about someone moving to Colorado from the east coast.

Default Not really an accurate estimate IMHO

What goes into their algorithm?

How many miles of trails.
How many many square feet of gyms.
Economic status of citizens.
etc.

Its not like they weigh everyone. You'll notice that the cities with the worst scores have horrible weather (hot, humid) and have a large poor class.

Default Population, money spent on health care for the obese, # diagnosed with heart disease,

# diagnosed with diabetes.

Accurate quantitatively.... maybe not. Representative of a general geographic trend.... I'd say it looks pretty accurate.

I'm still wary of any epidimilogic algorithm being passed off as "fact" by any news source
