Default can anyone compare motul 600 and gs6100 brake fluids?

motul is good but would be willing to try something better. @ $80 for a full flush worth of fluid it better be liquid gold. anyway speakup if you have any experence with the gs610.

http://www.gs610.com</a

Default There's a lot of smoke blowing on that web site ...

A few examples,

1. GS610 is using MSDS's for performance data on competitive products??!! An MSDS is a Material Safety Data Sheet, a document required by the Federal government which must provide specified data on the safety, health, and environmental properties of the product. It is a fantasy to expect to see any performance data (such as wet boiling point) on an MSDS.

2. Brake fluid compressibility absolutely is an important property. Why not measure it rather than just saying that it's usually proportional to density?

3. The Formula One Story: "We can't tell you who the team is! ... Woo Hoo!"

GS610 may actually be good stuff, but the web site doesn't inspire confidence. I'd feel much more comfortable using one of the known performers such as Motul RBF600 or Castrol SRF.

good points randy. I also thought the f1 line was funny. if it was that good I'm sure they could find another team willing to use it

now do you think the srf is worth the price??

How often do you track your car? How do the brakes on your A4 hold up? If you're having problems, what are they?

Without knowing the answers, I'd guess that SRF is probably not worth it's premium compared to Motul RBF 600, but let me tell two stories ...

In our Formula Continental, we use the dirt cheap DOT 3 Ford HD brake fluid. The dry boiling point is reasonably good, but the wet boiling point is terrible. We bleed the brakes every race weekend, never give the fluid time to absorb moisture, have never had a fade problem, and are glad that this brake fluid is cheap. [See Comparison.]

One season several years ago, we paddocked twice next to the Corvette of "Black Dog Racing". I was amazed ... Apparently the rules force them to run with totally inadequate brakes. Every session they totally overcook every part of that Corvette's front brakes, after every session they completely flush out the old brake fluid (not just bleed, and the old fluid comes out black), and they use Castrol SRF to get the absolute maximum dry boiling point. They told me that they use up to 12 liters of SRF every weekend, and they think it's worth it!

well I track my car alot but never really have big brake problems. after a hard weekend the brakes feel a little soft but a bleed gets them back to feeling tight. is not a big diffrence but they always seem a little softer say drivng back to the hotel or something. I dont like dealing with nasty brake fluid so if I could use something I didnt need to mess with it would be great. I have alcons and use both agressive street pads (carbotech bobcat) and race pads on the track. I really like the bite of race pads like the cobalt friction spec-vr pads but sust want whatever works the best with min about of fuss.

I just think the motul is very hydroscopic and would like something that would last longer and not need to be messed with.

Default Sounds like you might want to give SRF a try. ...

If the pedal feels soft after a weekend on track, and a bleeding brings it back, it does sound like you're cooking your brake fluid. Though if you bleed your brakes every track weekend and are currently using Motul 600, SRC may not be enough either. BTW: I also use Castrol SRF :-)

Default Motul and pedal feel

Motul always feels soft, imo. It's just the way it is. Have you actually felt the fluid boil, as in the pedal way down with little to no pressure? I doubt it.

If you want something that will give you a better pedal feel and runs about the same dollar figure, get the Neosynthetic brake fluid from Baker Precision (link below). That brake fluid is basically the same stuff the Andie used to use in his line of Cobalt brake fluid. Andie no longer sells his modified version of the fluid though.

Anyhow, the Neo feels much better on the pedal. Give it a shot and see what you think. I don't think SRF is worth the cash.

Default Thanks for the information ...

Have you noticed any difference in pedal feel between SRF and Neo? I'm about due to order some brake fluid, and I'm always looking for a better pedal feel.

Default Motul is the softest

All the rest, I can get a rock solid pedal feel from. I doubt you will tell any difference between Neo and SRF in terms of pedal feel.

Default so what happened to the cobalt fluid?

i remember talking to andie about last year but I've not been tracking much this year and never followed up with him.

thanks for the link, I give it a try!
