Has anyone experienced being given a VIN# by the dealer, told the car is on the ship and then had the whole deal fall through?

We haven't but the wife is now concerned by all the smack talk she is reading vis-a-vis "stealerships". Are most of you getting yours as promised or are there more "I got screwed stories" than good?
