Don't think of it as cold; think of it as Turbo Weather!

Don't think of it as cold; think of it as Turbo Weather!
Just posted my first sub-5 sec 0-60 in the RS6! 4.9 vs prior best of 5.1, due in part I'm sure to the temp being only 45F. Any colder and the summer performance tires (8K miles on second set of Pirellis) would have lost their grip. As it was, with ESP off of course, I felt them spin more than before.
I know this sets no records, but it was an important milestone for me. The car is 100% stock and finally matched the car mag time for the prior generation Corvette. Seems to be aging well, with its best time ever at 32K miles!

You guys should get a 1/4 drag GTG going.
But then the question is, does the added power of cool air overcome the reduction of traction for a cold track. When it got below 50, it felt like my S4 was re-chipped.

Re: added power from cool air vs. reduction in traction
That's an excellent question, and IMO 45F is just about perfect. It's cold enough to make a difference with turbos, but not cold enough to cause significant traction loss. Summer tires, at least my Pirellis as well as the SO3s I had on my B5 S4, hold pretty good until the low 40s IMO.
