as well as undercut sales of the true volume car here, the A4. In addition, they sell in far greater volume in Europe where hatchbacks are viewed more favorably. It's the same reason that here in the US Audi only sells like 1 Avant for every 8-9 sedans (the ratios are almost flipped in the EU)
