Default Side Assist Compatability with Valentine V1

The information I have read for Side Assist states "two 24 GHz radar sensors" are used to detect vehicles in or near the vehicle blind spots. K-band radar used in law enforcement ranges from 24.050 GHz to 24.250 GHz, and the Valentine V1 radar detector detects even very weak signals in this range. Does anyone have experience using Side Assist with the Valentine V1? If so, does the V1 continually indicate a radar presence when the Side Assist function in enabled?

Default FX35 explained?

My V1 laser goes off at every FX35 I see, I'm thinking it's the cruise control system on those, or the parking things.

Anyway, the V1's are great...call Mike's staff at Valentine and ask them, they may have the answer.

Default Re: FX35 explained? V1

My V1 goes off everytime I'm behind a Tahoe or Trailblazer. With the Tahoe/Trailblazer it's the angle that the third brake light sits that sets off the V1's laser detection. I have never had an issue with the FX35 or FX45. I'd suggest looking at which alert your V1 is signaling next time you encounter a FX to see if it's the angle of the third brake light (and a component of this is the height & location of where your V1 is mounted which helps to make the false alerts, associated with laser, unique to each vehicle.)

Default Tahoe vs FX

Yeah, the Tahoe/Trailblazer LED 3rd brake light drives me nuts at stoplights.
The FX laser alert happens when it's approaching me, that's why I would guess laser cruise control.

Default Side assist broken today

I had a chance to drive one with side assist today to check the V1 issue, but the when I tried to activate on my drive and after, the dash read 'side assist error.'

Default Re: Tahoe vs FX

Rich,
If it's the laser alert you're getting when encountering a FX the false alarm is driven by light (most likley the FX's driving lights.) I haven't taken my V1 on a test drive but would be curious to find out if the side assist interferes. So for any of you lucky enough to have a Q in your garage let us know. My intuition is that it won't interfere, but ....

I'll report back in August if we don't have an answer by then.

Default "Intelligent" Laser Cruise Control

The FX sets the laser detector off since it constantly has the Laser Cruise control going. The system is also used to detect emergency situations and pre-pressurize the brake system for an impending emergency stop.

We have an 2004 FX45 and this feature comes with the Tech Package.
