I had a stepper motor replaced on my Toureg. I recommend getting it addressed asap. If you don't, your tires will get torn to shreds.
The Toureg stepper motors were back ordered for 2-3 months a number of years ago while my motor went bad. My tires got SHREDDED and VW had the kahunas to tell me they aren't responsible for my tires as they are a wearable!! That answer was NOT acceptable as it was their warrantied part that caused the damage and they couldn't get their hands on one.
After going in circles with the Service Manager and not getting any resolution after HAVING to buy 4 new tires after 2k miles. I walked in to the owner of the Dealership (largest in the World based in Fort Lauderdale) and explained the situation. He called the Service Manager and had a check cut for me for my new tires within 15 minutes. VW has a HORRIFIC service reputation nationally and I witnessed it first hand with a number of warranty visits on the Toureg. I felt like I consistantly was treated like a college kid with his first car. EVERYONE I spoke to in the service que with Touregs had the same feeling.
I sold the Toureg and bought the Q7. I really liked the Toureg just not the service. Now, I really, really like the Q7 and my Audi dealer has been nothing short of exceptional but, the car has only been in the shop twice in two years for minor warranty work but, both were a little complicated.
Address the stepper motor ASAP!
