What do you pay for an oil change?

I bought mine for the boat. No drain plug on that engine and even if there was it would drain into the bilge and I would have to figure out how to catch that without making a mess. Once I changed the oil in the boat with an extractor, I've never looked back for the the cars. SO much easier.

About $40 at the local fast lube for the 2017 Q7/V6 draining from the pan. Provide them VW 505 oil, filter and drain plug + washer.
This is not going to work for the 2023 SQ7/V8 though; will need to go to the dealer as the filter is inaccessible without disconnecting/taking out a lot of stuff at the top. $260 would not be a complete ripoff for this, as the VW 511 oil itself would be around $100 (about 3X of the VW 505 oil), and the filter removal involves some labor.

The "drain from bottom procedure" was a surprise, as I was expecting the "suction tube from top" method. Maybe they did it this as they were going to remove the bottom engine splash-shield to inspect the underside for the multi-point inspection anyway.
So, roughly $100 more expensive than what I spend on the '17 Q7's oil change. This appears reasonable to me given the extra work, multi-point inspection, road-test and free car wash.

Well, for the first break-in oil change (2400 miles), the local dealer charged me $196 (parts+labor) as described (air-filter-box & cross-member/brace removal to access the filter) and oil drained from the bottom for the '23 SQ7/V8.

Just a heads up that "free" car wash is also coming from a 18 YO kid using dirty water/brushes/etc and leaving micro abrasions over your vehicle. I never let the dealership touch my car's exterior.

On the other hand our 2017 Q7 burns a quart every 1000 miles and I change the oil every 5000 miles. So 2/7 of the oil has 5000 miles, 1/7 of the oil has 4000 miles, etc. So assuming I've just topped it up, the average age of the oil when I change it is only 2857 miles.

2021 Q7 3.0 oil change
Hello All!!!…. I just attempted changing my oil myself yesterday at 45k. Wasn’t too bad, just tedious taking things apart. I too used an oil extractor for the first time, worked very well putting the tube through the “dipstick “ tube. I got out about 6 qts. In order to remove oil filter, had to unplug one tube , but it was easy. Ordered my first kit from FCPeuro using Liqui Moly 0w-20 vw508.

Just came back from the dealer where I paid $260 for an oil change. I know this is on the pricier side but the loaner, free espressos and keeping the oil change during the warranty period gives me some peace of mind makes it worthwhile 😂
what do you pay for an oil change, and where do you go for it?
