Default Transmission Swap ID

I need to swap out my Q7 2017 transmission. I found a used 2017 but it has a different Tran ID. My ID is SHS the donor ID is SUP. Are they compatible? Thanks!

Transmission should be OK. You only have to check the software version by PR number of your car.

for informational purposes... what went wrong with the transmission? have you ever replaced the fluid and filter in it? how many miles are on the vehicle? thanks.

Are the software versions able to be updated if swapping SHS to SUP though? looking to do the swap since a new one is 14k and not readily available and all used ones are 100k + miles. No informations anywhere about any of these transmissions.

Loads of info on these transmissions - they are super common ZF unit. However, I am not sure on the details for how you code properly after. Hopefully someone chimes in

Gentlemen, you'll need to get the component protection programmed to your vehicle ( tcu) is in the transmission. A competent programmer should be able to perform the task fairly easy, or you can put the vehicle on a tow truck and bring to the nearest audi dealer ( the car will start with the donor transmission but will not drive) . Just make sure they can do it before you go.

thanks for the reply, but; what if hypothetically the old mechatronic unit/ tcu was taken from the original (SHS) transmission, and put into the “new” but used (SUP) transmission? Will there still need to be programming done to get the car moving?

sure the zf unit is super common, but the work ever being done to the shs is unheard of, other than the dealer swapping it out for an arm and a leg.
