Hello fellow Q7ers. After reading different posts and watching some YouTube videos, I decided to try to upgrade the Bose sub with a RockfordFosgate sub. I didn’t do any modifications to the car and the 4-Ohm Punch speaker really is an improvement over the stock sub. Others have written that upgrading only the sub improves the bass response but not overall “sound/volume”. Well, I’m here to tell you, the sound truly packs a “Punch” and is immensely better than the stock Bose sub. The bass is deeper, crisper, and better overall harmonics from the front and middle row. I would highly recommend the upgrade! The only issue I ran into is the Punch speaker doesn’t properly align with all six mounting screws; the plastic rim is too wide to allow for all six screws to hold down the speaker. I also wasn’t able to utilize the Bose plastic cover that goes over the woofer. I’m not worried about it though because the main fold-down panel of the car will protect the new speaker.
The swap out took a whole 15 minutes and I couldn’t be happier with the sound. Now, these aren’t JL or MB Quart 10/12s, but utilizing the existing Bose box allows for zero loss of trunk space.

I just added this to my SQ7 the other day as well and completely agree with you. Worth every penny of the ~$170 and 15 minutes of work. Also the factory Bose cover can be easily modified to fit if so inclined.

is the original Bose subwoofer 2 or 4 ohm?

Hello. How can you set 2-ohm configuration for subwoofer with dual 2-ohm? Used just one coil? Or both in 4-ohm config and it played well?
