Q7 totaled by deer - what next?
My wife hit a deer at 60mph in our 2018 Q7 Prestige. Did this damage and blew every airbag, locked the seatbelts and just friggin’ wrecked it. She thankfully walked away. She loved our Q7 and wants another but now is the time to consider alternatives. Has anyone found anything “better”? I know, very subjective question, but wondered what others have or would do. Also considering 2020+ Q7 but prices are steep. Side note: insurance payout was $46800 minus $1000 deductible so I’ve got about $45k (will add some just not sure how much) to play with. Thanks in advance.

I'll probably get flak for this, but if I wasn't towing with mine, and if I didn't need a third row, I'd seriously look at the Tesla Model Y (AWD, Long Range version). Actually tons of fun to drive, and "range anxiety" is way overblown.

I am looking at tires, wondering how many miles you had on this beauty?
Glad she is safe, that must have been some deer, took out a chunk of that front end.

I feel your pain but glad all are safe. I just hit a deer last night in my ‘17 Premuim +. I was only going 35 mph or so with much less damage than yours and no airbag deployment. To answer your question, I did a recent post comparing our ‘18 VW Atlas to my Q7. The cliff notes version of the comparison is the Atlas is more roomy with more bells and whistles for less money, but lacks the fit, finish, performance and feel of the Q7. It’s the last post in this thread if you’re interested:

Good luck!

Never Follows
Stay with the Q7. I'm currently in an X7 and the replacement part availability is terrible.
I fear needing a part and being down waiting months for a part to arrive. This was true before covid and has only gotten worse.
Personally I hate the Q7 dash before the refresh so I'd go with the refresh model but that's just my opinion of course.

Interesting you ask. 25k mikes and literally a month ago just put on a set of Michelin Pilot 4S. Insurance co wouldn’t let me swap them out and only reimbursed $400 for them after paying $1400. They were nice tires and rode way better than the stock Goodyear run flats, which isn't hard to do I know.
