OEM vs. 3rd-party Running Boards?
I recently purchased a 2020 Q7 and absolutely love it! I have young kids so it can be tough for them to get in and out of the SUV at times so I am looking at adding running boards. Curious to hear opinions on getting the OEM vs. 3rd-party running boards. The OEM running boards are quite a bit more pricey (~$2100 for the set) vs. $1000-$1500 for 3rd-party running boards. Is it worth it to get the OEM and if not, what 3rd-party brands would you recommend?

I can't answer your question on quality but I suspect they're all equal, so I would just get whatever you're willing to spend and like aesthetically I don't think there's a ton of options.
Also its my understanding to install these aftermarket is quiet laborious and expensive (likely to exceed the cost of the boards). They did not offer them on 2017s and the labor cost made to too high for me.

I have Romik running boards (see this thread). They have been on for over a year and are very functional, look great and are a fraction of the cost of the OEM. I think the cost of the boards + installation was around $800-850. My installer was familiar with these running boards so it didn't take him more than a few hours to install them - but if DIY it can easily take 4+ hours to do.
