Default Audi SQ7 DIFFERENTIAL CHATTER SOUND

When I slow down to a stop in my car I notice almost a chattering sound coming from what I would assume is the front differential. I'm fine with it as long as it's normal but it's an off-putting sound.

It's a vibrating clicking gear sound.

If going in a straight line then it does not sound normal. My first check would be front CV axles and if nothing clearly wrong then drain the fluid and make sure you arent low/ running old burnt fluid.

I am experiencing the same chatter and agree with OP’s description. I’m able to consistently reproduce the issue - it occurs during a slow coast down, between 15mph and 12mph. At first I suspected loose items in the cubby left of the steering wheel but this is not the case. 2022 SQ7 with ~4,300 miles.

Only thing I can relate is when turning tight a very low speed I can hear almost a chattering/light vibration but from the rear. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Could it be the exhaust flex pipe "rattle" that many of us had? Very audible at around 1000 to 1200 rpm if my memory still works. Audible both accelerating and decelerating. Just another thought for an issue that was repairable. Good luck.

I think I know what your talking about, but I hear it at idle sometimes, specifically at high idle in dynamic. Just annoying really

I'm having a similar issue with my 2021 Q7 which started around 5000 miles. The problem usually manifests as a chattering/vibration sound from the front of the car when braking to a stop or braking low-speed turns.

The dealership found no problems with the exhaust after an inspection. I was trying to figure out how to get this issue resolved.

Is the next step to have the dealership look at the front CV axles and differential fluid, as suggested by n00bkiller944?
