Gotta love New Mexico roads! My 2019 is in need of replacement right now...
I haven’t heard of random cracking being an issue with the Q7. It’s possible, I know Subaru issued a recall for the [somewhat] newer Impreza for windshields busting for no reason.

Mine cracked from a rock, got bigger over time
My insurance covers windshield replacement at $0 deductible
here’s my invoice, OE glass, and had them do full sensor adaption and alignment
$1856

What a rip off! Both of my windshields were replaced in my driveway, OEM glass, no calibration, about $1K.

My 2017 had 2 replaced windshields and both were done at the dealership. The "driveway" job is not adequate as the windshield needs to be synced up with the vehicle for the anti-collision and sign reading applications.
The insurance originally sent me towards the "driveway" windshield service providers, but hold your ground and have it done at the dealership. Once you call the windshield a safety item - then insurance covers it, and the cost was around $1800.

North Caroline - replaced OEM windshield for $550. Geico covered everything (paid deductible) and dealer charges ~150 for calibration also covered.. not sure where the price gap is...

My Audi dealership recommended the guy who came to my house and replaced my windshield x2 in the driveway. My Audi service advisor also said no calibration would be required if I used him. Installer said he replaces windshields in Audi, Porsche, Ferrari, Lamborghini, etc. and has never had an issue.
If there were problems with any of the driver safety sensors I would get error messages - I did not.

Either way, I have had poor experiences with glass replacement companies, especially trying to pass non OEM glass on to me after requesting the real deal.
If you can pull the "safety" card with your insurance you should get it done at the dealer, let insurance pick up the bill, and be rest assured everything works as expected.

Prestige With HUD
2017 Q7 Prestige with HUD. Replaced windshield twice already. Audi New Orleans referred me to their "go to" glass specialist -- does all high end autos. Each windshield replaced for about $1,250. No calibration necessary --- OEM windshield comes with camera bracket already on windshield so camera fits precisely without need for calibration.
