Default Audi 3G Recall Information Needed

Hello everyone,

I just had the 91CD recall done with respect to 3g turndown however, I was told that my 2018 Q7 does not get the new module from Motion?? How true is this? Dealer only performed some sort of software update?

Thank you in advance for any insight.

My dealer tried to charge me $100 for the motion device. I told them no, it was free. They then delayed my car to install it. Had to take it back the next week for a different appointment. Now I’m wishing I didn’t get it installed.

my dealer did not know what motion for Audi connect was. he did the software update, I contacted Audi USA and gave them my VIN number, they ran it and said that I should have gotten it! they offered to call the dealer to tell him what it was and to offer it to me but I did not like the idea of making another appointment to go back to get it installed so I opted to pass. my point is that you should not trust the dealers because they are either lazy, underpaid by Audi to install it or misinformed about it.

Thank you guys. I spoke to Audi USA and I was told that my in service date does not qualify for the device yet due to different hardware but SUPPOSEDLY they are working on a solution for these as well. We shall see.

I am wondering if anyone else had this issue?

I think I'm in a similar situation. My in-service date for my 2018 Q7 Prestige was November 2017 and this does not qualify. As mentioned in a previous post, my SOS light is not illuminated and I do not get any warning/error messages - like others here. Not sure why.

I'm confused why the in-service date would matter. Isn't the hardware installed dependent on the date of manufacture vs when the vehicle was first sold?

I too am curious and don't understand. Both my dealer and Audi said I was not eligible for the module, just the software update to turn off the warnings - that I currently do not get and as a result may not need the update. Not really fair IMO. Maybe there's something different in the very early builds that explains why I'm not getting any error/warnings since the 3G was turned off in late Feb as others have stated.

I just made an appointment for this and the letter clearly states software and hardware replacement

The key is the word "certain" in the subject line and sentence before the one you highlighted. Manufacturers' lawyers will almost always put an out in their language to consumers.

Looks like 2017 models are getting the upgrade but not some 2018
