Not to be rude, but I'm just curious, if "this car will be driven 99% of the time by my wife sending and fetching kids in city traffic", then why bother putting on 21 or 22's anyway? The 19's will give a more comfortable ride and future tire choices will be more plentiful and A LOT cheaper.

Nope that’s not rude at all.

Very valid question and the simple answer is purely aesthetics and vanity. Just want it to look good

Ok anyway thanks for the discussion I think it can end here cos I’ve just left the tyre shop and ordered the Vorsteiner VFF 107 22x9 with 275/40r22 p zero NSC in Carbon Graphite. My Q7 is galaxy blue. Found a galaxy blue q8 with the exact wheel tyre setup which I based my decision on.

I’ll post in the 22” setup thread! It’ll be a while though, apparently backordered at Vorsteiner till end-Oct

Nice setup.

I went with 285/35/22 on my setup, fits perfect, no rub, and mph stayed the same.
now I need a drop

this is my old tire 285/40/22. Comfortable but got uneven wear causing severe road noise after 10k. Change to Pirelli 285/35/22 so far so good after 7k on it. Still quiet.

Vorsteiner VFF-107 22x9
Pirelli P Zero NCS 275/40/22

totally no regrets upgrading from 19” to 22”. I would say the increase in ride harshness is pretty negligible at least based on the roads that we have around here.

I’m hesitant to install the H&R lowering springs that I’ve got sitting at home. I think it doesn’t look too bad as it is.
