2021 Audi Q7 payload
Hi,
I picked up the new ride today. I have a question on payload.
Per stickers on the door pillar of my Q7, gvwr is 6580 pound. Payload is 1202 pound.
I took the car to a scale. Weight of the car with gas full and without driver or passenger is 5136. If i subtract this from the gvwr, the payload should be 1444. So why is audi saying payload 1202 pound?
I checked few other cars in the dealer lot. All of them had payload 1202 regardless of options. I was thinking adding more option decreases payload...
Can anyone share some thoughts on this ?

I noticed a similar disparity in my 2018 Q7. Is it possible that they are including the driver weight on the sticker, while we think of the driver as counting against payload? In a sense, it would make sense to include it since the car can't go without a driver. In fact the sticker says "passengers and cargo". Technically, the driver is not a passenger...

MoinEd's theory looks most likely to me. Audi has probably calculated weight with all possible options and sticking that number on every Q7 (or may be every technik q7). They are saving money...but customers are deprived of using the true capacity of their q7. Imagine i could have towed 2000 lb more trailer with that missing 200lb payload.
of course, i am not going to cross the 1202 number for liability. Only good thing here is that i can get real close to 1202 and still not be at max capacity :-)
