A lot of times in an accident depending on how you are holding the wheel you can tweak things. Also the seat belt is what holds you in the seat and can cause some shoulder/chest injuries depending on crash severity. Better than flying around on the inside of your car though... hope you heal up fast!

While they are doing the MRI on the shoulder, I hope they MRI your neck as well to be sure that you do not have a traumatic disk herniation causing the shoulder/arm pain (unless they can be REALLY certain on physical exam that you have direct rather than referred pain to the area). If you felt like the impact was significant, and your head whiplashed at all, I would ask them to extend that MRI since you will be in the machine already. The added cost would be worthwhile IMHO, and there really is no other downside to doing it other than the cost (no radiation like in a CT scanner).

That’s a great point, the chiropractor mentioned it based on my x-rays highlighted that my neck didn’t have the normal curvature which it should have and this is attributable to whiplash. I will ask the folks at the MRI location to include that next week.

You will probably need a doctor to add the neck to the MRI order. Asking the MRI facility to do it may not work on its own.

Be prepared to have the insurance company total your car. It is not certain, but your damage looks similar to what happened to my wife's car, which was declared a total loss. There is a lot of value in the electronics and other parts in the car, which can result in the car being more valuable to the insurance company as a write off than the cost of repairing it.
