If I'm thinking of the same one.....Then I think that hitch was bolted to a heat shield as well.

I didn't really wanted to believe it and went and confirmed in my manual. The guy here that mentioned was talking about an SQ5 or Q5 and I was thinking, maybe doesn't apply to a Q7. But sadly it does. So now I'm looking to electronic means to prevent sway.

Anybody wants to buy a WDH? (just half kidding :P )
I'm not here to debate whether WDH is ok or not for the Q7, but I find it funny that the "follow the manual" argument applies in some situations (ie: this one), but not others (ie: 10k mile OCI).

I'm sure this thread has been followed by some, and I suspect the WDH recommendation in the manual is due to EU regulations and Audi doing a CYA move than an actual engineering/technical reason:

Default Airlift 60904 or 60905

Hi all,

Last year I towed with the 60904 and spaces (that came with the kit). I wasn't overly impressed with the sag reduction. I felt it was safer for sure, but my ride height didn't seem to improve much. Not as much as I expected.

I had a center diff issue, Audi replaced it under warranty, but before I took the Q7 in, I removed the bags (cut them out).

Now I'm ready to install a set and it's a good opportunity to improve what I had before.

The question is, for those of you that did this, would you now go with 60905 kit instead? The 60905 is 3.5" x 9.5" and comes with spacers.

Does the 3.0" wide give any advantage over 3.5" or is height really the key?

Other option is 60902 which is 3.0" x 9.0" and buy 3rd party spacers..

Based on what @MoInEd has stated in post 156, it sounds like 60905 with the rubber bumpers is the way to go.

I'm monitoring this thread as I'll very likely need to do something within a month or two. Who wants to be the trail blazer?

I just picked up a 2018 Q7 with no AS and I need to tow my boat once a year to the dealer for winterization. Boat is around 7200lbs on trailer. I def want to add helper air springs for that tow. I will also be watching this thread.

This month is going to be crazy busy for me but I’m hoping I can make time to get the 60905 bags installed. I crawled under with a tape measure and from top to bottom spring coils looks like almost 9” to me so should work.
I also need to get a tongue scale to see where I’m at. Camper battery box on tongue was a solid ice cube last fall so it either needs drainage or relocate inside.

If I’m first to try the 60905 I’ll post.

Any other trail blazers out there?

I'm most likely going to do mine week of May 20th.

The only concern I have is the 9.50" plus spacers. That said, when I had the 60904 in they moved around for sure at 7.75 so maybe it's just fine and I'm over thinking it.

I'm going for it!

I also have a weigh-safe hitch.
