Default 2017 2.0T question

Owned a lot of Audis in the past. Wife wants something bigger than her Q5 TDI (I'll keep the TDI - love that engine/car)

Found a local private party 2017 with 60k on it. Looks to be in really nice condition.

I searched and can't find anything - are the 2.0s in the 2017+ the same engine Audi has been making? Looks like the timing chain tensioner is likely new/updated in this year?

I keep cars a long time - don't ming turning a wrench on my own. 2.0 in the 2017 good to go to 150k+ with some maintenance?

I have the 2.0 TFSI, and it is the latest EA888 gen3, and probably the best (and last?) 2.0L Turbo Audi is going to make. Most 2.0L problems belong to Gen 1 & 2 engines, like the Gen 2 early CAEB (mine in my A6 is still fine at 75K miles) with oil ring issues and chain tensioner issues (the year of the CAEB seems crucial, 2013+ better). The Gen3 seems solid, at least mine is (2017), and I don't see a lot of reports of problems, except for things not related, like brakes, water pumps etc. Enjoy!

Yes these are really solid. Same thing offered in Q5, A4, A5, A6, etc. With regular maintenance they are very reliable.

I'm currently at 105k on my 2.0T and the only problem I've had was the water pump (replaced under CPO warranty), along with some occasional random "malfunction" warnings pop up and go away.

What mileage or km did you replace the pump at, when did it start showing symptoms?

water pump was replaced at 60k and it was found by the tech during service. I didn’t even notice anything. Looking back through my paperwork, I noticed they also changed out a faulty motor mount at 70k. All done under CPO warranty.

My car is at 60k right now, kind of worried, how did they notice though, isn't it a closed unit? What symptoms did you have for the motor mount, any issues with acceleration etc..

Also was it the regular maintenance service that they noticed these things?

Thanks a lot

I believe they noticed the coolant level was low, which indicated there was a problem with the system, IIRC. I had no specific symptoms with the motor mount. The paperwork indicated "vibration at idle" but I'm not sure if that's how the tech noticed or just something they had to note in order to get it covered under CPO. Yes, both of these things were done at regular service intervals.

Some of the 2.0T are noisy little buggers. The quality is not too consistent across units I think.

What about the 3.0T supercharged engine? That would be nicer.
