Default Tires

Hello, I have a q7 with about 9k miles on it bought new. It came with the dunlop summer tire sportmax. I might only get another 1k miles on these tires. Any recommendations on a harder tire that will give me more mileage?

2012 Q7 prestige titanium package with 21" wheels.

Thanks in advance!

Steve

I easily managed 20k+ miles on two sets, the only issue I faced was the rear tires wearing down faster on the inside. I may add that its mostly highway driving + speeds.

I changed over to P-Zero Rosso now so shall see how well they do. They produce a lot less road noise than the dunlop, although, I feel that they also give me a touch less grip too.

I just installed TOYO proxes ST II about 2k miles ago. quiet, super grip in wet weather, and I know from past experience on other vehicles they will give me better mileage than the pirelli's that came on the SUV.

In general, what I have read about Toyo and similar category of tires is that they offer good grip at the expense of long-term endurance. I would also hesitate on the strength/load rating of those tires too.

I seriously doubt you will find a "long lasting" 21" tire for a 5,000lb SUV. 20K is about as far as most will get unless it is all highway driving. The highest tread wear rating I see on Tirerack is 300 which isn't so hot. Most folks with 21" wheels are looking for the best performance they can get. The 20" wheels have the Pirelli Scorpion Verde available with a 600 rating but it doesn't appear they have a 21" version.

You definitely have a greater selection rolling on 20inch rims, although the 21 adds a significant foot print in comparison if you ask me. Michelin have a set of super soft rubber that Im sure will be ultra sticky, but, I wouldnt expect them to reach 10k though.

Don't believe everything you read.
Endurance: not really concerned with tread life, more concerned with grip...but my experience with Toyo's on vehicles this heavy has shown VERY good tread life, 30k+

Load rating is higher than the oem pirelli's and again I have them on another heavy vehicle.

I'm happy and just offered my experience and opinion.
