Default Steering wheel column won't telescope

Today the power steering wheel column will only go up and down but won't come out. Never had a problem on my 07. Can't be a motor issue I'm guessing. Anyone else have this problem?

Almost makes me wish that the column adjustments were manual.

I had similar problem, but mine would telescope but not move up or down. It was covered under CPO warranty and was not the switch or motor the dealer said but they had to re-code something. It was associated with a dying battery too I believe as we had to put a new battery in it the same visit to the dealer. Weak batteries will create all kinds of little gremlins in the Q7's systems it seems.

Did you ever get resolution to this? We're experiencing the same issue with our 2014 TDI Prestige. Our mechanic has indicated it’s likely the steering column motor (dual version - PART # 7L8419501AP (7L8419501AK). However the unit cannot be tested until it has been fully assembled (~6 hours). It’s tricky due to the multiple electronic modules involved and the possibility that a replacement column cannot be programmed to our Q7’s VIN (?). In short it will be expensive; e.g. ~ $2,500 (new motor). Using a salvage motor could save us ~$800/$1,000 however due to the labor involved, they’re not comfortable working with a salvage part. Hoping you may have found a less costly solution.

Note: We are not covered under warranty.

@ny_driver the same issue happened to my previous Q7 and I was able to rectify it via leveraging my VCDS.

[Go!]
Activate the Basic Setting.

The adjustment should now be learned.

This addresses the telescoping or the up/down?
