side mirror eaten by garage door
My lovely wife, this morning, at 5am, backed out of the garage and ripped the passenger side mirror off of our 2013 Q7 S Line Prestige with Optics pack.
The entire mirror is off, wires snapped, etc.
Got an over the phone quote from the dealer of approx 2k for the repair. Does this sound insanely high? Will probably just make insurance claim.
Ughhhh

Been there, done that. Last year I clipped our garage door and snapped the cover housing off the driver's side mirror on our Q.
Is the whole mirror assembly off the car? If so, 2K sounds about right. It was $500 or so just to get a new housing, paint it, and replace the side assist indicator. Thankfully I didn't break the mirror plate (the heated electrochromatic mirror plate alone was like $500) or the actual mirror assembly (what attaches the mirror to the car... I think that was another $750).

yes, first Audi. Thank you for the welcome.
She did a good job on it. Entire thing ripped right off. I think i can salvage some of the parts, but who knows. Probably looking at a total replacement, and rewiring.

The wiring is only plugs I believe. Just search EBAY for a used one, repaint it and put it back in. If the deductible is $250 then let the insurance company take care of it. My wife did have the driver side missed a little and cause a scratch thanks to the "break away mirror" design. Now we only have a scratch.
Cheers,
Louis
