I have a used amp I installed I did some reading and apparently it needs to be reprogrammed so I took it into the dealer and they said it doesn't work they were very pressing to the matter that you can't take parts from one car to another and I needed to purchase new, so my mmi works now after I installed it, but I have no sound, it also appears that with the new amp the air ride seems to work now
My question is the amp is out of another car and it has a slightly different model # but the amp visually is the same one same bolt pattern etc. I have also read from some of the sellers of used amps even the 2013 amps different # also will work with a 07 q7 with the right programming so what to do? Am I to believe the seller as it works and I need reprogramming if so how is this done will I need to invest in the vgacom then the software? Also would Updating the firmware help?

Very possible you will get a component protection. Since the part doesńt recognize the car. Scan the car with Vag-Com you will see if your "new to you" amp is in component protection mode. I have tried to find a way around it but the only method I have come up with is going to the dealer and ask them to remove the protection by unlocking it through Audi Germany on the internet.
