Q7 trailer connection

Q7 trailer connection
I have a 2015 Q7 Prestige S, with the tow package. There’s no electrical connection installed. I bought the aftermarket adapter kit, which is plug and play. There’s no connection to plug into. You would think that it would be part of the package.

@bville46@aol.com Aftermarket adapter kit? If you mean the Audi trailer module, there's an area behind the right side kick panel in the luggage area where that trailer module goes. You might have to dig around a bit to find each of the connectors...a couple incoming from the harness, and one leading out to the trailer electrical connector... If it's new, I think it also needs to be programmed to your car.

Trailer connection
No, I’m talking about the electrical connection. Brake lights, turn signals etc. Usually there is a 7 pin plug, but my Q7 has the factory tow package with no connection installed for trailer lights

Might be helpful if you posted a picture of the aftermarket kit you bought...

No, I infer that he means the car is tow equipped from factory, but it is missing the 7pin RV interface to the trailer side wiring.
You should be able to look under the tow bar and trace the trailer wiring harness attached to factory tow receiver to the end-plug interface. These cars shipped from the factory w/o the 7pin RV connector in place; the trailer harness just terminated onto back of a 'blank' plate mounted where the 7pin outlet is normally located. Seems odd, yes, but that's how it was delivered. I've seen multi Q7s like this that where the owner never used the towing, so the trailer harness wiring was still terminated to the 'blank' plate in order to keep that connection weatherproofed/clean, etc. This topic has also been discussed prior.
Conversely, if you buy the Audi 'tow-kit' accessory bundle from a dealership now, it is bundled with the 7pin RV style connector to trailer side, etc.

Missing connections
Checked my VIN and verified build info for Q7.
If you look under the rear of the vehicle, there is NO cover with 4 screws behind which is the factory connector. It’s as if they forgot to install it.
Factory build list includes hitch, and other tow package items including trailer wiring harness. Checked rear right area and spare tire compartment. Looked for evidence that it ever was there.
Mystifying
