I installed the unit from 4x4 Canada and am experiencing a white noise /static issue that increases as the volume increases. I've played with the different volume settings in the original mmi and the android unit and it doesn't really make a big difference how I set up the volumes. Anyone else experiencing this?

Do you have any static noise when you turn up the volume while using carplay/android auto?

That's typically indicative of a gain issue, where the input 'volume' is too low and the output 'volume' is being required to run the amp at max. I'd suggest turning up the CA head unit volume to see if that changes the behavior.

Question for the folks who have upgraded to one of these Android units with a touch screen interface, and which also incorporate the AUDI MMI system: With one of these units installed, are the MMI controls in the center console essentially no longer needed anymore? As in, if you can use the touch screen to select/change MMI settings or switch between interfaces, could you get by without the center console controls completely?

Reason for asking: Going to be joining the 4L Q7 owners group in the next few months, and will definitely be upgrading to one of these units. If I can do away with all those center console controls, I'm contemplating fabricating/3D printing some kinda cup holders for that area instead. I'd prob move the start/stop button to the RHS side while I'm at it since it makes no sense being on the opposite side to the driver (for RHD vehicles)..
