Default Oil consumption

So, i just dropped off my Q7 for the 2nd time in 3 months because of excessive oil consumption. The first time they changed a blower valve on the back of the supercharger and told me this was 'stage 1' When i asked what stage 2 was, the dealer said it depended on what AOA dictated the next step to be. Does anyone have any idea what might happen next? Piston rings? BTW my car sits most of the week with a few short trips here and there and comes out full force on the weekends. Thanks in advance for any insight.

I'm having consumption issues on my 4.2 as well...already had to add 2 quarts in the last 7k miles. When they do a stage 1 consumption test, they drain all the oil and top it up with a measured amount, and they tell you not to top it up if the low oil light comes on, but instead, bring it in so they can drain and measure how much oil is left and calculate the oil consumption. On the v8, when I first mentioned the oil consumption, they changed out the oil separator to see if that would help, don't know if the 3.0t has the same or not.

That's "normal" based on Audi specs.

apparently this time the oil level was fine, but a faulty oil sensor was to blame. fingers crossed. again.

So I've got the Min oil level warning again. 3rd time since my last service. I am due for my regularly scheduled service, so I will have them do the Oil Consumption Test 2 when they do the service this time around. I'm hearing that it is NORMAL for 1qt every 3k miles. Does that sound right for a 4.2 v8? Any downside to that much oil being burnt? I've already had the oil separator changed last service, but that doesn't seem to have made a difference.

My 4.2tdi uses no oil at all, even allowing for a small amount to escape through the two turbo oil seals, it still does not move on the dip stick over say 10k miles.

I would check the crank breather pipes fort any kinks or blockages - this could cause excess internal pressure which will increase oil consumption.

Just had the consumption 2 done...everything is within tolerances according to Audi. On a petrol 4.2 V8, apparently anything less than .85 quarts per 1200 miles is normal. Does that sound crazy is that just me? first 30k I never had to top off the oil between regular services. 40-50k, I put in one quart. 50-60k, 3 quarts. I have probably been doing shorter trips in the last 10k because my work commute got much shorter, so would that account for the increased consumption because the engine hasn't had a chance to warm up as much?
