I havent't read the manual on this function yet, but when I set the switch to fold back the mirrors it works. When I want to set the mirrors to the normal position I set the switch to left/right/middle mirror position and sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't work. Is there a trick that I am supposed to be doing?

If you turn the **** when off they will not respond later.
You just turn it back and go again.

It only works on passenger side (right) window in US here.

I think Audi does that in Europe, and most Mercs have them in the US.
