There's vids online on how to refinish the caliper (red), and even add the Auto Union rings logo to them to match up to the factory 'pretty' ones...it's not so easy to find a good used Audi Q7 equipped with the option package that included the red painted calipers...just saying. I've seen a few over the last few years, but just a handful equipped as such.

yes … I did the BMW about 4 yrs ago and It’s still beading water fairly well but not as good as it used to… so figured it’s time to redo it .

Beautiful cars...

Don't have to spend alot of money for good ceramic protection. I've been using Meguiars ceramic spray on wax and Turtle Wax ceramic wash for a few years now. Really only have to apply the wax portion a couple times a year.

Meguiars just came out with a ceramic clay bar system. Looking forward to doing my vehicle with it soon.

Heading to the Cleveland area this morning to replace my front brake pads and rotors. My friend is letting me borrow his driveway for a couple hours.

*Don't ever tell an Audi mechanic their job is easy. Those brakes took alot of work to replace. I'm used to working on GTI's, no comparison.

Nice!
I just started looking into ceramic coating mine. This Glacier White does not hide the dirt like my old Daytona Grey did.

100% this. I just washed it after having not done so for over 6months and it only looked mildly dirty.

Default Ceramic Coat Prep

Main thing before you apply any ceramic coat is to give it a really thorough washing, dry it completely, then go over the car's (raw) finish with a clay bar system to remove the micro-garbage buildup that gets stuck on the paint (washing does not remove it). You'll be amazed at the difference in feel of the paint finish once you clay bar a section and compare to an untreated section. It actually goes pretty fast too...just don't drop the clay bar...no, seriously, don't.

The clay bar primes your finish for the ceramic coating to fully adhere, and it will absolutely look amazing afterwards and feel like touching glass...very smooth. When you wash the car as prep, it's best to use a high quality detergent auto soap to help get rid of/remove contaminants, and not use the 'ceramic blend or wax infused carwash soaps', which are just to help keep things pretty in between treatments.

You don't want to be adding any additional protective wax/ceramic component coatings during the washing of car when prepping for clay-bar follow-on, etc. You want it as raw as possible going into the clay bar process.

If you do this, even a light rain will wash away the dirt on your car, and the dirt won't adhere/stick to the car's finish.
