Does it do it in sport mode as well as D? When we first got ours it had some odd hesitation at light throttle. In S mode it did not. Driving it for about 500 miles seemed to solve it. I believe the trans is adaptive iirc and perhaps it was adapting to the drive style. I recall reading something about being able to reset the adaptive settings unless I'm confusing the Q7 with a different vehicle.

If it doesn't do it in sport mode I would be more inclined to think it was being caused by the ecu and or sensor as opposed to a mechanical failure.

Google it (Q7 Transmission Reset) but IIRC you hold down the throttle pedal while you turn on but dont start w/key in ignition for some time (30s?) and it resets the gearbox adaptations and forces a re-learn, should do it anytime you think its shifting stupidly.. I just use my VCDS but there's a backdoor method for doing it w/out a diagnostic tool.

Adaptations can also be key specific, so if you drive with your SO's key and they drive opposite than you it can shift like crap.

I think it’s the accelerator, not the brake.

Finally got my Q7 back from dealership after HPFP catastrophic failure. $16,400 is what the dealer said the whole repair would have cost if it wasn't covered by warranty! That is insane and more than what I paid for the car a little over a year ago. Just glad i didn't have to pay out of pocket for anything and that they provided loaner vehicles. Both the 2020 Q5 and Q3 were nice and had some great features but neither give you the feel of the TDI torque (Q3 was the least impressive). Wife is glad to have the Q back.

complete fuel system replacement including flushing the tank out
How long did it take for it to be authroised? I have had the HPFP replaced and the Audi technicians found another fault, with fuel contamination, which i guess may have eluded to the fact they did not replace the whole fuel system. So now I am waiting for a Audi person to visit the car to look into it further and then see what happens. The car has extended warranty, so i guess what they are doing is doing the bare minumum however, sometimes doing the bare minimum can cost more as the technician may have to start from scratch again. I suspect they have not replaced the fuel rail....

When an HPFP goes they dip the tank and send it off for analysis, contaminated often means they found traces of gasoline or similar in the tank and the'll use this to void your fuel system warranty via operator error or fuel station fault.

Agree, when I spoke to obtain further detail on the fuel contamination, the Service Advisor stated that the contamination was due to metal fragmentation, which would have been caused by the HPFP going "POP"....
