wow .. can you share with me the break down in cost? Looks like your dealer only charged 1 hour book time .. be interested in seeing what they charged you for the actual battery .. btw, NJ/NY dealer rate is $125 per hour

I am a bit lost... I have a Z4M and a Q7 3.6 which both cost around $55K new. Both are German and heavily laden with electronic gizmos.... What is the issue with mentioning a z4?

This is GREAT to know. I may be hitting you up for help sometime. I would love to get rid of the seat belt chime and have the needle sweep activated....

I am on a business trip this week but will let you know the breakdown when I return. I know the battery was under $200, I think it was $185 but will verify.

I recently bought a 2007 Q7 from an Audi dealer in Sydney, and they replaced the battery as part of the purchase agreement - Apparently was is an $800 job, and needed the replacement of some seat bolts, allegedly due to some legislation that requires new seat bolts every time a seat is removed...

Thankfully the whole job (plus more) was covered under the statutory 3month dealer warranty.

Can you just get a power adaptors that goes in one of the power plugs with 9 volts or another 12 volt battery to keep the system alive while you change the battery?? I do understand the new battery may have to be married to the computer. but at least you don't lose anything.. just a guess. This has to be documented some place what you have to do. I'll have to replace my batetry before winter so I'll find out. Can't be that bad. but if it's only replace every 5 years could get complicated.
