Got a extended warranty quote from Audi...reasonable?
It covers 7yr/70k miles with $100 deduct for 2.8k. $250 deductible is $400 cheaper. SO basically it's a 3 year/20k mile extended exclusionary warranty since the car is new. Audi says that the warranty company is Fidelity. I plan on keeping the car for at least 6 more years. Does the price seem reasonable and is the price negotiable? Did anybody else get a better price?

I don't keep vehicles out of warranty; however, I was just curious. I got an on-line quote from my insurance company, USAA.

I got one through my insurance GEICO.
They have a new car breakdown (or something like that) addition to your regular policy (have to buy at time of purchase for new cars only). Which I have been buying with every new car purchase since 2002.
There's a $250 deductible, but they cover everything else up to 7 years/75k whichever comes first. It only cost me about $30 or $40 bucks a year. The catch is that it's not transferrable.
I haven't bought any extended warranties for cars since I knew about this back in 2002. I have only use it 3 times since for my 2005 Acura TSX (which is funny, since it's a reliable Japanese brand vs my German ones). So $750 (deductible) plus the 7 years of premium for the plan ($280 - don't remember if it's $30 or $40 a year), so for a bit over $1k, I got 7 years and 75k coverage. Which to me is not bad.
My Q7 is about to hit the 50k factory warranty mark, now GEICO will kick in. I'm sure the German parts will be more costly than my Acura, so maybe I'll even have more value for the plan if the Q7 needs work till 75k.
Sorry if you don't have GEICO, then my post is not helpful.
I don't think GEICO advertise this, so to those who do use GEICO for insurance, you have a new option.

I picked up the Platinum level coverage offered by United Car Care (UCC). Cost was about $4,000 and it covers 5 years or 60K miles with a $250 one-time deductible and $25 per/use co-pay. It's also prorated coverage, so if I sell the car or for any reason decide to cancel I can get money back.
The UCC Platinum coverage is very comprehensive. About the only thing it doesn't cover is air suspension, which most 3rd party insurers no longer cover thanks to their experience with the Allroad.
I had similar coverage from UCC on my A6 4.2, and feel it's one of the best packages out there. Paid for the coverage by the end of year 2. Audi Financial lowered their rates to be more competitive, and they had some comparable plans as well. Definitely worth looking into at least.

i have a 2009 that will be hitting 50k come march (approximately) and have been pondering the idea of an extended warranty. Have never in the past with previous cars; would self insure.
I am leaning more towards the self insure with the Q7. Reason being is that i plan to trade her in with the launch of the new Q7 (in 2 years?, hopefully sooner).
