Dension Gateway 500 iPod Connector Installation
Can anyone tell me if it truly matters where in the MOST ring the Dension Gateway 500 module is inserted.
The manual says it is "normally" connected between the head unit and the CD changer. This requires you to remove the CD changer from the dash and break into the MOST ring there. My CD changer is completely stuck. Radio removal keys do not work, and I don't want to take the dash apart, nor do I really want the dealer to. Besides, I've found a very convenient location right next to the radio module which is behind the cover on the right side of the load bay. In there is a convenient source of non-switched power (the "cigar lighter" socket) and a spare shunted MOST connector which I believe is probably for the NAV module that I don't have. If I could connect the Gateway 500 there and have it work, I'd be very happy to have my iPod back there out of sight, and not filling up my glove box.
Anyone know enough about the MOST optical serial data bus to be able to say if it matters physically where things are located in the loop or not?
Thanks.

It's a lot more available unless your Q7 was built after Dec 2006...
....which mine wasn't. I took delivery in May 2006 and have been without iPod connectivity ever since. At least you can buy a Gateway 500 and install it yourself. Audi promised An AMI retrofit early this year, but we've still not seen it.
