Clear coat coming off wheels. Cry.
Is this normal for a car that is only 4 years old? Just discovered that my passenger front rim and my driver rear rim are like this. Very sad. My warranty expires in 11 days. Do you think this is covered? What's strange is that I just had the car serviced and they gave it a complimentary wash. The wheels were flawless going in and now they are not after picking it up. Thoughts?

This happened at Audi, not my usual carwash place.
I chatted with the service advisor so at least I'm on the radar. I was then asked to bring it back....can't get there until Friday and the service manager will look it over with the advisor. They wash 50 cars a day the same way so I am confused as to why this would happen to mine?
This just makes me feel so sad. I am meticulous about my wheels and check them daily. I know, sad. This is the best car I have ever owned....so it means a lot to me.

iconoclast -- looks like you were right.
I am not the original owner of the Q7. Seems that the rims may have been dinged in the past and then refinished.
Husband and I are split on what to do. I'd rather just get all the rims refinished and be done with it and he'd rather get new rims since we have to get new tires anyway...
That being said, Audi was very nice in helping me sort this out.
I had always suspected that the current rims were not quite right because they definitely look burnished in some spots...oh well.

Have them powder coated, you can get a lot of different finishes including chrome
My other car is a Brabus Smart Roadster and the Brabus wheels are diamond cut which aren't that great for UK climate as the salt water eats away at them, I got mine done in chrome and they looked brand new when finished, here's a PIC of them before the tyres went back on
