Default Caliper Paint and Decals

Don't know if anyone here is interested, but I have painted the calipers on several cars and decided to do the ones on my wife's Q7 S Line. Thought you might like a look. It is a simple way to set the car off.

Are the decals heat resistant also? Just seems they would yellow and crack eventually if not.

Looks great though!

I thought so as well, however, they have been on my Lexus SC for about 6 months and on the Audi for 3 months. Even with presure washing, no problems so far. They cost less than $10 so if they have to be replaced, no big deal.

Could you post the source for the decals and your process for painting? Thanks

Good job. JCubed used these decals, makes a nice alternate. Pic copied from random ebay ad.

Default Paint and Decal Source

Below are sources. Tire Rack has the paint.
Some tips. Put the car on jack stands and remove all wheels. The paint is a 2 part mix and has an open time of about 1 hour. Although it will look like a small amount of paint, there will be plenty for 2 applications. Leave the wheels off overnight and apply the decals before putting the wheels back on. The front calipers are almost identical to the Porsch 911 calipers. I looked at Porsch to determin what to paint and what to leave unpainted. Everyone who sees the calipers (even the Audi dealership) thinks it is factory due to the red in the S-Line logo.

Looks very good and professional. May have to look into this as well. So many mods so little time.

Thanks for the writeups and info.

So surt, the paint you used is a brush on since it was 2 part I am guessing? You used the G2 kit?

Also, correct me if I am wrong our calipers on the Q are manufactured by Brembo, anyone know if that is true?

G2 is a paint brush applied product? Can you provide detailed steps? Looks like you masked off parts perfectly.

I read our brakes are Brembo as well, not sure if I was ever able to confirm that. Tried contacting Brembo, no response.
