I just ordered through ecs tuning and they have been great. I also have purchased in the past from pelican parts. Cant go wrong with either. I stick with OEM stuff if I can, but I have used zimmerman for the rotors on both the Q7 and my Cayman.

I used Centric rotors and Centric Posi Quiet Semi metallic pads on our 2011 when I did them. Performance and feel was equal to OEM. Purchased from Tire Rack.

Rotex Gold Brake Pads.;
I have over 60,000 miles on my Rotex Gold brake pads, and they're dust free and still running. The brake rotors are the factory originals with no wear induced lip on the edge.
It's really a shame that the Rotex Gold pads are no longer available. They were a superior product.

I sometimes downshift gears using paddle shifters to slow down the car. That should lessen the strain on the brakes, but is it recommended. My indy mechanic said it's cheaper to replace brakes than the transmission. Anybody knows if that's still an issue with the newer models?
