Default Audio cutting out. Likely the amp. Sunroof to blame?

The audio just started cutting out on Friday and from what I can tell researching threads it seems that the amp is the likely culprit. I tried the MMI reset and fuse tricks and neither worked. It does not seem to be a loose wire as the audio cuts out consistently every ~5 seconds. Our Q7 is a 2007, but is outside the range for the TSB and garage kept, so I'm not 100% convinced the sunroof is to blame.

The silver lining? Our Q7 was a CPO with full 7 year / 100K warranty that expires December 2nd :-)

Will keep everyone posted on the diagnosis after I take it in next Monday.

Cheers,
Jimbo

I agree that it is the bluetooth module. Just recently had our 07' do the exact same thing. I recommend diirecting the dealer in the direction of the bluetooth module though. We took it to one dealer and they said the mmi had to be replaced for about $2700. I denied the work and did some research. Took it to another dealer and told them the bluetooth module was bad and they checked it and agreed.

It was only $900 fix. Saved some dough by directing them in the direction of the bluetookth module. Of course there is no compensation for a poor diagnosis from the dealer.

Thanks guys. Appreciate the responses. Will direct the dealer to the Bluetooth module.

You guys called it. Faulty Bluetooth module was the culprit. Apparently the 2007 module is now two versions out of date requiring an additional software update which results in additional labor. I argued with the tech who agreed to cut some labor off the bill, but it was still almost $1,200 out the door.

Ouch.

Stupid question: Will the updated Bluetooth module and firmware updates let me stream music from my iPhone? Does anyone know what versions allows this so I can check?

That would actually make the upgrade worthwhile.
