Default Audi Advanced Key Door Lock Problems

2015 Q7 3.0 TDI Prestige

1.) Button on the front passenger door exterior handle will not lock the car, but it will unlock the car.
2.) Drivers door exterior handle button will lock the car, but almost immediately unlocks itself without touching it.
3.) The only way I can be sure that the car is locked is to use the lock button on the key fob.

I hate to take it to the dealer, even though it's still under warranty; because I dread having them tear the doors apart.

Thoughts?

Dutch, I believe it is a bad switch in the passenger door handle. Dealers replace the whole handle so expect to have to wait for it to be painted. Our right rear door is similar but we can live with not being able to lock from there. I have gotten that mirror switch code but if I put the switch in the middle position I don't get it. Mirrors work fine.
There are replacement door handle sensors with the push button too but my dealer tech told me that THEY change the whole handle.
The handle is removed from the outside without removing the door card. I wouldn't worry.
For more info check this from A5 S5 guys. Door handle swap and sensor removal - Audi A5 Forum & Audi S5 Forum

Thanks. Would a bad switch in the front passenger door cause the flakey response in the driver's door. Push the driver's door button to lock. It locks, but unlocks again right away. If I press rear driver's side door button to lock, it locks and stays locked.

I have a hunch that the driver's door switch is bad, too.

Is it still under warranty? get it booked in for the handles as they can be pricey and once one has gone the rest soon follow

Not sure. Ours has done that but not consistently.

his is a TDI, and its currently fully warrantied under the settlement Bridge Warranty.. take it into a dealer and get new handles before they release the fix and it reverts to a basic powertrain warranty.. he said its currently under warranty so mebe he has some original warranty left.

Ive read its about $600ish per handle to fix out of warranty..

Hmm. Mine is a TDI also. ??

Dealers do not seem to be up to speed on this though. A friend had a boost hose leak while traveling for the 4th. Stopped at a dealer in Kentucky. No warranty was offered.

I think the Bridge Warranty was only for Gen2 TDI's w/AdBlue, Gen1's get a buyback offer if your facing serious repair bills..

I'm sure that is correct but FWIW, Gen 1 TDI Q7s have Adblue injection too. I'm not sure just what IS different that makes a compliant fix impractical.
