seriously, the EPA freeway didn't go up? the 6 spd is 17/25. the 8 spd is a taller final so i'd think it'd have to.

By that rationale you could get 100 MPG if you put in a long enough gear...

At some point other forces - rolling resistance, drag, mass, etc - dictate the MPG and extra gears probably don't accomplish much. The 8spd transmission could well have been developed for some other engine and is being dropped into every model as an "upgrade". I doubt it changes much of anything but I am prepared to be convinced otherwise.

if you read the question just as it is, you're right. but just as they did in the Audi TDI across america test, driving the car at the lowest rpm of it's flat torque range won the contest. that of course was on real roads where hills, wind, speed limits were at play. that was 72mph in the 6spd. if i remember right, the epa tests were flat ground at a specific mph. that'd be a lower rpm now = less fuel. especially on a luggable motor like the 3.0 TDI. if i'm wrong, then instead of 72mph being the best mpg, it'd be a higher speed then. either way it's a plus.......i just doubt it's the same freeway mpg.

Are all of those TDIs on ebay 2009 model year? Every dealership received a white 2009 TDI as a demo vehicle to help sell the TDI concept. When the 2010 models arrived with the facelift, the dealers had a hard time selling "new" 2009 models which were typically optioned to the gills and configured with the six seat seating arragement.

I don't see many white Q7's at all on the street.
