I'm running 21" s-line wheels on OEM Dunlops and have had no wear issues with them. I'm at 20k miles with 7/32" thread life, but put around 5k miles with the winter setup. Had 4 tires replaced with less than 100 miles on the clock due to slight vibration, the dealer was not able to balance the tires using the roadforce. I keep my PSI at 42 frt and 48 rear.

With care and proper setup you could reasonably expect to double this mileage.
In general the Q7 will wear evenly accross the tread and put more wear on the rears than fronts (without rotation).
That is based on average conditions. Perhaps there is some highly abrasive surface near you or unusual parking conditions.

All based on personal experience and records from the forum.
With over 20K miles on the clock, I noticed that my tires also seemed to be wearing quickly - but unevenly. My rear tires looked nearly new while my front tires were balding on the outside. Insides looked like the rear - very good condition with normal wear. Tire pressures were normal, so this was puzzling. Even if they were underinflated, I don't think it should wear like that just on the outside. I then took it to a shop to have them install the "thrust rings"/wheel spacers to upgrade to the 20" wheels from my 18" wheels. When they looked at the alignment, they found over 1/4" of toe-in, which seemed like a lot and could explain the excessive outside wear on the front tires.

Something to keep in mind. I had them change it to be very close to zero toe.

No, got about 33K on our first set with mixed driving. How many times did you rotate your tires? That seems extremely short for tread life. I don't have the 21's though so can't see with certainty that it is abnormal

I don't know if larger wheels cause the tires to wear out quicker than smaller wheels. I have 18" wheels and after 22k miles, the dealer checked the treads and they're all 7/32" all around. The treads may no be efficient for the snow this coming winter, but in the summer, they're fine.
We do drive conservatively with the kids in the car and mostly freeway, not many u-turns or parking the car. Front and rear tires wear out evenly.

Cheers,

Louis
