Default 07 Q7 longevity

my one owner 07 now has 109,000 miles. still runs perfectly. worth more to me than i can get for it. thinking of keeping it for a winter car, a second car.

i have the 4.2. can any other 07 owners with more miles tell me any special problems i need to expect over the next 50,000 miles?

thank you.

Hi Peter.

I have a 2007 3.6 with 146k miles. As the first model year for the Q7, there were quite a number of kinks reported. But my mine has been very solid and mostly trouble free. The sunroof drains are one of the more notorious problems in earlier models.

Good maintenance will mitigate much of the risk associated with an aging car.

Two items that will need addressing (if not already replaced) will be your battery and HID bulbs. Both gave me issues at around 120-130k miles. My suggestion would be to replace both before they give you issues.

The other suggestion would be to do a transmission and drivetrain fluid service. Audi does not include this in their service schedule but the transmission, differentials and transfer case will be much less likely to fail with fresh fluids. It may cost you several hundred dollars but could save you thousands down the line.

Good luck!

There are some Q7s out there chugging around with 270ish thousand miles+... It's one of Audis most reliable vehicles.

Hi Peter,

As a follow up to my earlier post, I coincidentally had an experience in the last 48 hours worth mentioning. My engine recently developed a rattle and needed a complete oil flush to remove sludge and deposits that had built up over the years. You can read the details in my new post on this forum. Might not be a bad idea to think about doing the same as preventative maintenance!
