Gas spilling out when fillup
2014 Q7,
When filling gasoline with auto shutoff, gas is gushing out of the fill neck when it reaches full before the auto shutoff stops. sometimes so much it runs down the side of the car.
Dealer has no clue. Dealer rep saw this happen.
anyone else having this issue?
Jim

I've witnessed this on other vehicles. It's typically a problem with the Evap system. The dealer should take more of an interest in it. It's serious to have spilling gasoline..

Usually this is caused by the nozzle on the pump being worn and not picking up the first signs of fuel returning up the filler neck.
The ZVA nozzles with VR have a small return tube built in to the top of the filler pipe which needs just a small flow of air to keep the valve mechanism open, as soon as any fuel gets drawn up this tube, the cutout trips. If the end of the nozzle is bent over from years of use, it stops the cutout detecting fuel returning up the filler neck.
Try a different filling station and see if the problem still occurs.
